Both John and Margaret were born in Virginia around 1780.
They were married in Brooke County, Virginia on September 25, 1802.
There is evidence to support they came to Ohio before 1820
when John and family appear in the U.S. Census in
Salem Township in Muskingum County.
There is some evidence that John may have seen military service
during the work of 1812.
After 1820 there is no evidence of any kind concerning John,
so it would appear that he died shortly thereafter.
Margaret appears in the 1860 U.S. Census in Salem Township in Muskingum County living with her son, Thomas. There is no evidence of Margaret after that so it is assumed that she died before the 1870 census. This is a very sketchy but records have not been found to support any other information. |
