Tuscany Scrapbook Quilt

We took a wonderful tour of Tuscany in June 2005 called "Back Roads Tour of Tuscany". It was a guided tour of small towns in Tuscany with a limit of 16 people on the tour. We saw small towns, art, architecture, wineries, olive groves, and wonderful scenery.

This wall hanging is a scrapbook quilt of our Tuscany tour. Some of the pictures and postcards were scanned into the computer then printed onto fabric to be sewn onto the quilt top. The main centerpiece is the menu from the 3-course lunch we had at Banfi winery in Montelcino. Attached is a label from one of the kinds of wine we had that day (we found it in our local store after we came home). Some of the paper tickets to art galleries are attached as well. I had a few Euros left when we arrived home so those are attached with double-backed carpet tape.

The base of the quilt was machine-pieced and hand-quilted by Nancy in 2006, before any of the pictures, cards, or coins were attached. Then the items were distributed on the quilt to find a pleasing arrangement. When satisfied, each was zigzagged into place. The back of the quilt is a print of wine labels.
