30's Snowball Quilt

This 30's Snowball quilt was a pattern in Fons and Porter's For the Love of Quilting, Summer 2000 and reminds me of summer. I have always loved the 30's prints and collected fabric for a couple of years until I decided I had enough to make this quilt.

The quilt was hand-pieced and hand-quilted by Nancy E. Miller in 2009 requiring 60 hours of work. The backing is the same large yellow print as in the border. The quilt is 41" x 56".

I used the scraps from making the corners of the "snowball" block to make some half-square triangles, which I made into a matching pillow, with the same backing as the quilt. Just perfect for those afternoon naps in the spring!
