Mariner's Watch Quilt |
The Mariner’s Watch, (Quilt, April/May 2011) caught my eye because I have always
loved the Mariner’s Compass pattern
but thought it was too hard. This pattern had a kit that could be purchased with
all the fabric shown in the magazine along with the paper piecing pattern so I
decided to try it. I was also looking for a quilt to make for my niece Tracy and
her fiancé Steve for their wedding 28 April 2012.
I pieced the top during the Grand Oak Retreat in May 2011 and everyone loved it! I had to wait until I returned home from our summer travels before I started to quilt it on the big quilt frame out in the library. I quilted in the ditch for most of the quilt, with interlocking rings in the large triangular corners, overlapping hearts in the smaller blue triangular corners, and a heart inside a rose in the small blue squares. |
