Heart Quilts |
These "Heart" quilts were made from a patchwork book I
purchased in Denmark in 2007, entitled "Hjertepatchwork"
by Ann E. Baird, Ea Fisker and Jette Højgaard.
Both quilts are made of novelty fabrics, the pink one with
butterflies, the other with ladybugs. The big hearts were
hand-appliqued with embroidery floss, while the little hearts
were hand-appliqued with thread. The "3-D" hearts hanging with
a button center were made of felt, then stuffed, then secured
to the quilt, either with a large button, or decorative cord.
Both quilts were completed in 2008.
The pink butterfly heart quilt was made for my niece Madison, who is "the princess" since she loves dressing in pink. Hearts and butterflies were machine-quilted in the background. The red and yellow ladybug heart quilt was made for my niece Kaitlyn, who loves all kinds of animals. Hearts were machine-quilted in the background. |
