Charles' Patriotic Veteran's Quilt

The Scrapper’s Quilt Guild, of which I am a member, was making patriotic quilts for veterans in nursing homes in the area, when I decided to make a patriotic veteran’s quilt for each of my brother-in-laws and my husband. I thought they should not have to wait until they were in the nursing home to have one.

This quilt was made for my husband, who spent four years in the US Air Force. The quilt was adapted from the “Banner Day” patriotic table runner pattern (Fons and Porter's For the Love of Quilting, July/ August 2010) with a large block of the US Air Force seal in the middle and a backing of small US Air Force seals. I used different star blocks above and below the middle block but I liked the red and white stripes alternating with the blue and white stripes so added rows of those blocks at the top and bottom. It is bound with the same fabric as in the borders.
