Ole

Sarah Elisabeth was married twice. The first time to Ole A Hagen on 14 Sep 1909 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Why in distant Cedar Rapids is still a mystery. Ole was originally from Norway born in Lillehammer, a city made famous world wide by having the Winter Olympic there in 1994. Unfortunately, he died on 9 Dec 1917 in Brookings, South Dakota where they were living at the time. There is no evidence of any children to this marriage for in 1920 she is living alone and listed as a widow.

Andrew
On 10 Aug 1922, she married again, this time to an older widower, Andrew Martin Wold, who still had one or two children at home. Lizzy as she was known, forsaking her first name, was also the name of Andrew's first wife. Andrew by coincidence was also originally from Norway. He was born on a farm called Volen Gaard on October 9, 1861. Andrew was a sucessful building contractor in Brookings with jobs in other cities as well, including Souix Falls where he died at age 73 on October 25, 1934. This link to a picture of Andrew and Lizzy was taken in Swea City the summer before he died. Lizzy lived alone for the next 48 years in Brookings, South Dakota. She died just 3 days short of her 100th birthday. dying on 21 Nov 1982
