Malissa married Isreal McLain in Allen County, Ohio on March 23rd in 1869. Isreal was born in Ohio about 1846. As if Peter and Elizabeth had not seen enough death in their immediate family, their daughter, Melissa, died at age 34 on April 29, 1885, just one day after having a stillborn child. It was her 7th child over a 16 year marriage. The other 6 children were: Francis M (b 1869), Elizabeth A (b 1872), Clara Alice (b 1873), Mary A (b 1876), Ida May (b 1877), and Charles H (b 1882). The last 3 of the children were born in Cedar County, Iowa, where Melissa died. Melissa and Isreal had moved to Iowa in the mid 1870's. It would appear that there was a mass migration of the Staley clan as the entire family, including all of the children, and the 2 married daughters and their families moved to Cedar County, Iowa.
