The 1840 U.S. Census lists only head of household by name. The others in the family are marked by gender and age category, no name. An unnamed male child appears in the Paul Knapp in the 1840 census as 10-15 years old. However there is no other later reference to that child, so it is assumed that he died before 1850 or had moved away from the home at that time.

Or it could be that the census has the wrong gender and that child was really a female we now know as Lucreita. Little is known about Lucretia except that she married Hiram Brown in 1849, that she had 3 children: Frederick, Alice, and Elizabeth. All of their children were born in Danville in Caldonia County, Vermont, which is where Hiram was from.

Her death record states that died of cancer at age 55 years and 7 months in Northfield, Vermont. Sometime before 1870 they moved south from Danville to Northfield, which is just south to Montpelier. That same record states that her father was Paul and her mother was Sophronia Warren.

Hiram continued to live in Northfield up through 1910. He died in 1916 in Orange County, Vermont at age 88.
