Her exact date of birth nor place have not been found but it most have been in 1851 in either Northfield or East Montpelier. She is the first child of her father's third marriage. Julia appears in the 1860 census living at home with her parents in Northfield. In the 1870 census she is living near East Montpelier and working as a domestic servant in the household of farmer Byron Goodwin.

In 1872 she married Clark Sapulding. Clark was a farmer with land near East Montpelier. They had 2 children Blanche in 1875 and Forrest in 1879. Julia died at age 50 in 1901 of peritonitis which is an infection of the inner lining of the abdominal cavity. We do not know the cause in her case and it is hard to speculate. It is typically caused by bacteria which today is treatable with an antibiotic. It also could have been caused by fungus, parasites, injury, internal bleeding, or disease. Clark remarried and lived to be 90 years old.
